BADADDPLE THEATRE PRESENTS 'A YORKSHIRE CHRISTMAS CAROL' - December 2010

Comes to Thorganby Village Hall Thurs 16th Dec 7.30pm. Tickets £8.50 (all adults) £5 children. Box office 01423 339168

Written and directed by Kate Bramley, inspired by the Charles Dickens story.

Enjoy a family treat this Christmas and join the much lauded BadappleTheatre for their latest 'theatre on your doorstep' production.

Writer Kate Bramley (Land Girls of Yorkshire) and her itinerant band of actors put their classic Yorkshire comedy slant on the Dicken's Christmas story. Have a good chuckle while the blustering, skin-flint farmer Ebeneezer Scrooge gets his comeuppance and is forced to see the error of his penny pinching ways. Full of local stories and carols, puppets
and mayhem, and new original songs by Jez Lowe, plus a whacking great dose of seasonal bon-homie, this is a winter warmer to put a smile on
everyone's face this Christmas.

"A classic and comic tale, with a Yorkshire twist, for ages 5 to 95!"

'one of the best touring companies in our region' NORTHERN ECHO

Badapple Theatre Company Presents: The Land Girls of Yorkshire - April 2010

'Some girls just aren't cut out for farming...' It's wartime and there are some new arrivals in the village.  They're turning heads and breaking hearts as the fine girls of the Women's Land Army take to the hills.  Buff is a city girl dreaming of being 'just like Vera Lynn', while Biddy is a country girl who is 'now't but a hopeless romantic'.  We joined them on a journey of  blisters,  back-ache and banter as they learn all there is to know about working on the land.

Set against a backdrop of glorious music of the age, as well as new tunes by songwriter Jez Lowe, this play owed much to the reminiscences of a number of Land Army girls who contributed their own personal stories to this hilarious new comedy.

"This is a production brimming with creativity and talent.  If you get the chance to go and see this do, as it is a joyful and uplifting experience." York Press

A great night was had by the large audience - the village hall was almost full to capacity which made for a great atmosphere and a rousing chorus of "We'll Meet Again..."  The talents of the Bad Apple Theatre Company knows no bounds and we hope we will see them in Thorganby again soon.

Badapple Theatre presents: Georgie's Winter Almanac Radio Roadshow - December 2009

The company who brought the 'James Herriot' theatre show and others to Thorganby collaborated with songwriter Jez Lowe for a special seasonal music presentation entitled 'Geordie's Winter Almanac Radio Roadshow'. Jez and his 5 piece band jouneyed back to his North East roots in a night of entertainment that harks back to the old Tyneside radio shows of the 1950's.

Jez, hailed for his contributions to the recent SONY award-winning BBC Radio Ballads, and whose songs have been convered by the likes of Fairport Convention, The Dubliners and hundreds more, was joined by his long-time band The Bad Pennies, plus special guests Tyneside balladeer Benny Graham and young multi-instrumentalist Andrew Cadie for a night of homespun revellery, Geordie style.

All in all a fantastic night's entertainment in our very own Thorganby Village Hall!

Thorganby Village Show - August 2009

Following on from the success of the Village Show in 2008, there were plenty of entries for the 2009 show.  A rare sunny day in August meant that a good crowd came in the afternoon to look at the exhibits and marvel over the size of some of the onions!  There were children's games and activities and a raffle with some great prizes.  We are looking forward to the Thorganby Village Show 2010.  Keep checking the website for more details.

Thorganby Real Ale Festival - June 2009

The 2009 Thorganby Real Ale Festival was a complete sell-out quite literally with all the beer, all the cider, and nearly all the wine having been sold by the time the doors closed! We were entertained by some excellent bands including the legendary Phat! band who rounded off a fantastic evening.  Despite the unpredictable English summer weather it stayed fine, the barbeques kept sizzling all night, beer was drunk, and a good time was had by all.

Keep checking the website for information on the Thorganby Real Ale Festival 2010 which will be the 20th anniversary celebration!
